Working for the Love of God
Today I donated blood. It’s not a big thing; they called me and said that there was a need, somebody was in the trauma center that needed my type and could I come and give. I haven’t given blood often because of past health issues and work schedules and because I just was lazy about it.
But because they called me and because the need was there, I went. I’m glad I did for a couple of reasons. While we where there (my wife drove me there and back because she didn’t want me driving home afterwards.) I was talking about the web site to the young lady drawing my blood. She told me that she was new to the area and was looking for a new church. She wanted to find a non-denominational church where she could worship God comfortably. “I just want to serve Jesus,” she said, “that’s why I work here.”
Last week at the church I visited, the pastor said that when he first went into the ministry he said that he wanted to serve just Jesus and Jesus told him that he must serve man. This young lady saw what the pastor had to be told. If you want to serve Jesus, you must be willing to serve mankind. If you love Jesus you must also love man. If you can’t serve your fellow man in the Love of Jesus then you can not Love Jesus.
In the other room at the clinic, the volunteers were sharing what their churches were doing. They talked about revivals, service ministries and the like. My wife told me afterwards, when we left, that it was good to hear people expressing their faith with each other, even though they did not go to the same churches.
My mother-in-law who was not known for her religious expression has been telling everybody she knows about “GODTV” on cable TV and is attending bible studies four days a week. She has become a prayer warrior. She’s one of those people who says, if I prayed for you already, don’t ask me to pray for you again, God has already hear my prayer, He’ll take care of it. I love that lady!
And just a note about believing in the power of Prayer, this month I celebrate fifteen years of cancer-free living. Because a doctor knew what to look for and ordered test to be taken the day I saw him, cancer was found and surgically removed quickly before it could spread to vital organs. I remember him saying then, God will guide my hands, you will be OK.
I ask of you to seek ways to serve our God in every thing you do. Just as the young lady in the clinic, the volunteers in their churches and as a prayer warrior. Let God guide your hands, hearts and souls.
