Rick Warren and the Saddleback Interviews
While I try to stay out of the Presidential debates and the question as to whom I would like for the next “Leader of the Band”, I found that last nights interviews of McCain and Obama very interesting.
As a Christian who believes that there is a lot more to being a Christian that being opposed to abortion and protesting gay unions, I find that the answers of both McCain and Obama to provide only a touch of information that I did not already know. The problem is now, my cat wants more attention than I want to give her and it is hard to write.
So I will just give you my insight as to what I think is most important to me as a Wholeness Christian.
1. Jesus wants us to be a united people under His Love and Mercy
2. You don’t win souls or friends by war.
3. Sanctity of life does not end at the birth channel (either way), life is sacred from the womb to the grave and we need to care for each other every step of the way.
4. While it is not a “sin” to be rich, it is a sin to deprive quality of life to other be hoarding wealth.
5. The leader of a Great Nation must have a servants heart or else he is nothing more than a tyrant or a fool.
If you preach the rule of God as your life, live all the rules of Christ every way, every day. I can’t say as to how you should vote, Nor should I. Just one thing I ask; do not let the voices of petty or selfish men sway you into voting just because of what they perceive as the “will of God”, most likely they are only thinking of themselves. Pray hard and make your own choices based on what you think is good for the Nation and within the bounds of Complete Christian thought.
While I am taking of this Nation, the USA, this applies to every Nation that has free and open elections. And to those Nations that do not have this privilege, may we all pray that you will someday have the opportunity to do so.
Meanwhile, I did enjoy listening to Rick Warren asking his dear friends, John McCain and Barack Obama, to explain themselves to the American voting public as well as to the rest of the world who stayed up to listen.
