Lenten Devotion 2014: April 10

In love there can be no fear, but fear is driven out by perfect love: because to fear is to expect punishment, and anyone who is afraid is still imperfect in love. We are to love, then, because He loved us first.” 1 John 4: 18,19

“Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good, for His steadfast loves endures forever!” Psalm 106:1 ESV

In perfect love there is no fear, even in the trials and the torments of the world, there is no fer for those who have perfect trust and Love in God. We weaken, we become frail and lose sight of this glorious fact, in God’s perfect Love there is no fear at all.

In the perfect love we are at peace, we do not arm ourselves in fear of in bravado, we surrender to His Love and place all hope, all grace in His Hands. Greater is Him who is in me than those who rule over me. Greater is My God than the powers of earth. Greater is the Light and the Way than the darkness of the wilderness.

Prayer for Today: Let our love become the perfected love that is Christ, that we may bear our cross without fear. Amen

Lenten Devotion 2014: April 9

“We ourselves have known and put our faith in God’s love toward ourselves. God is Love and anyone who lives in love lives in God, and God lives in him. Love will come to its perfection in us when we can face the day of Judgement without fear; because even in this world we have become as he is.” 1 John 4: 16,17

“The unspiritual are interested in what is unspiritual, but the spiritual are interested in spiritual things.” Romans 8:5

There is the choice. To wander in the world of non spiritual things or to walk with Christ in the Spirit. If God is Love, and if god loved us so much as to sacrifice Himself through Jesus for our salvation and reconciliation, then our ability to love must be spiritual. And Our love will be perfected when we come into His Judgement. For in Love we will face all things without fear, without doubt or despair. With God out Love comes to fulfillment, it is made glorious and bright.

Prayer for Today: Let us come to the Father with openness and pure Love as He is pure love and by Jesus we become as Him. Grace be granted to us by the redemption of Love. Amen

Lenten Devotion 2014: April 8

“We know that we are living in Him and He is living in us because He lets us share His Spirit. We ourselves saw and testify that the Father sent His Son as savior of the world.” I John 4: 13,14

I testify that this is true, for I was one who shared in the Spirit of God, Christ in my redemption. Is it bold or foolish to say this? A little of both. Bold for I know what I experienced, foolish because I know the world view is that it is impossible. Yet through this series I have spoke of the wilderness, the wandering and being lost, and in this I spoke of myself. I rejected the Truth of Scriptures, I ignored the pleadings of godly people and the prayers of many. I knew I was lost but I did not want to be found. But Jesus would not let me go, He would keep sending people to show me His Ever-loving-kindness until I could no longer resist. And then suddenly I was no longer wandering, lost or confused. i saw everything with clear eyes and I knew the Spirit of God was upon me and in me.

So I can say, as did John, We know that we are living in Him (Christ) because God has shared His Spirit with us. Soon we celebrate the entrance of Jesus into the Holy City, let’s use this time to celebrate Jesus triumphant entrance into our hearts and our lives. let us shout out Praise and Hosanna In the Highest!

Prayer for Today: Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the LORD! Blessed is He who redeems and rescues us! Amen

Lenten Devotion 2014: April 7

” God’s love was revealed when God sent into the world His only Son so that we could have life through Him; This is the love I mean: not our love for God, but God’s love for us when He sent His son to be the sacrifice that takes our sins away. My dear people, since God’s love for we should love one another. But as long as we love another, God will live in us.” 1 John 4:9-11

This is how we stop wandering in the wilderness, love as God’s gift. For God’s Love for us is the pathway out of unrighteousness. And in God’s love, we can trully love one another, in spite of all the failings we have. For it is in love that we defeat sin, it is in love we break barriers, by God’s Love we conquer sin and the wickedness of the world.

So let love be the guidepost of everything in your life, God’s love rather than worldly love. For God’s Love is eternal and worldly love is temporal. World love dies with the earth, turns to rust like iron and steel, becomes rot like yesterday’s garbage. Look to Christ and the Holy Spirit to see God’s Love and give that to one another.

Teach us Your Love, your heart and grant us Grace to share as we have received, In the Name of Jesus, Your Son we ask. Aemn

Lenten Devotion 2014: Fifth Sunday

“MY dear people, let us love one another since love comes from God and everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God, because God is Love. 1 John 4:7

The Great commandment is: Love God with you entire being, and love each other as you yourself desire to be loved. Only in this way can we know God. If you can not love each other as Christ loves you, then do you really know God? Perhaps not, but then we can’t really know God at all if we are filled with hate toward another.

Every great spiritual leader in the history of the Christian Faith has been a person of great love. Every false doctrine that has come forth has been a doctrine that taught other than love. But it is by practice and patience that we learn to love, even those who persecute us. Let us be then instrumentals of love. Let every though, every action, every word be with love.

Prayer for Today: O Heavenly Father, show us what is love so that we may be love ourselves. Let our way be the way of true love, giving no malice or evil intent in anything we do. Amen

Lenten Devotion 2014: April 5

“Try, then, to imitate God, as children of His that He loves, and follow Christ by loving as He loved you, giving Himself up in our place as a fragrant offering and a sacrifice to God.” Eph 4:1,2

On the face of it, Paul is asking a lot of us. To imitate God, to follow as Christ in being love as He is Love. But when we are before His Judgement, He will ask, “How did you Love?” Do will imitate God’s Love? To we try to be a fragrant offering in Love? Are we trully being Children of God? O rare we still trapped in the wilderness of sin. Are we still seeking to satisfy our worldly desire, the desires that led us into wickedness and deceit.

Let us forget the past, let us leave the ways of the flesh and weak mindedness and imitate the awesome Love of God.

Prayer for Today: It is bold to ask to be imitators of God? Dear Lord, show us how to be as You are, pure love for the glory of God.

Lenten Devotion 2014: April 4

“So from now on, there must be no more lies: You must speak the truth to one an other,” (Ze. 8:16) since we are all parts of one another. Even if you are angry, you must not sin.” (Ps. 4:4) never let the sun set on your anger or else you will give the devil a foothold.” Eph. 4: 25-27

Trying to maintain calm when others upset you, when fellow believers do you harm is always a task. But we are to learn to remain at peace as Jesus is Peace. Our Lord told us to forgive “seventy times seven” or indefinitely. And in any good relationship we never let “the sun set” on our anger.

Seek solutions, seek to resolve conflict. Because if we fail to be at peace with one another, we allow Satan to destroy our Faith. Each day is another day to mend bridges, to build our nature with God. Let nothing stop you from walking out of the wilderness into the Light of Christ’s Peace one and other.

Prayer for Today: Calm us, Oh Lord, that we can put aside, cast away anger toward one another. Show us how to forgive, to restore relations, to build confidence in each other. Amen.

Lenten Devotion 2014: April 3

You must give up your old way of life; you must put aside your old self, which gets corrupted by following illusory desires. Your mind must be renewed by a spiritual revolution so that you can put on the new self that has been created in God’s Way, in the goodness and holiness of the truth.” Eph. 4:22-24

The ways of the world, the wilderness of sin and self desire, is an illusion, It is make believe, only God’s Way is reality. And in reality of God’s Way is goodness, mercy, humility and patience. We are to put on the New Self, the Real personality of Christ and not be temped by power, desire, wealth, fame or the temporal world. All things will pass away, nothing of the Earth will last, only the eternal hope and Promise of Christ will be everlasting.

So in the wanders of the ways of the flesh, there is only death, but in Christ there is life. Material possessions have no lasting, they turn to rust and rot. But kindness, grace, giving of self to others, these are forever.

Prayer for Today: Teach me to tremble, to give up sinning. Show me how to spend the night in Meditation in Your Way. “Who will give us sight of happiness?” (Psalm 4:5) You, will Oh Lord. Amen

Lenten Devotion 2014: April 2

“In particular, I want to urge you in the name of the Lord, not to go on living the aimless kind of life that pagans live. Intellectually they are in the dark, and they are estranged from the life of God, without knowledge because they have shut their hearts to it. Their sense of right and wrong once dulled, they have abandoned themselves to sexuality and eagerly pursue a career of indecency of every kind.” Eph. 4:17-20

What has happened? In the time of Jesus and Paul, The Faith of the disciples was the wisest, the understanding of the Word of God was the most intelligent, forthright and insight understanding around. But today, Science has advanced so far that to many, religion, especially Christianity is considered backward and primitive. But that should not be the case, our insights, intuitions, and grasp of life should still be far advanced over the thoughts, ploys and diversions of the world.

It comes down to how we respond to the word or to the Word. Are we focused on the words or the Heart. The world if full of desires based on sex, power and greed, the Word is filled with compassion, decency and mercy. With a world filled with lust, sexual exploits, divorce, power grabs, it is hard to see that the Word of God is not about knowledge but wisdom. Not earth shattering Exploration but Spiritual growth. So to those who seek after God, the World seems not intelligent, but vain and empty.

Prayer for Today: Teach us Wisdom, not intellect, teach us to love Your Will not to grow fame, fortune or glory. Let us all be wise in You, Dear Lord and empty of the desires of the Flesh . Amen

Lenten Devotion 2014: April 1

“Make no mistake about it: if anyone of you thinks of himself as wise, in the ordinary sense of the world, then he must learn to be a fool before he really can be wise. Why? because the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. As Scripture says: ‘The Lord knows wise men’s thoughts: He knows how useless they are.’ or again: “God is not convinced by the arguments of the wise.” So there is nothing to boast about in anything human. Paul, Apollos, Chepas, the world, life and death, the present and the future, are all your servants; but YOU BELONG TO CHRIST, and Christ belongs to God.” 1 Cor. 3:18-23

Happy Fools Day! Yes be a fool so that you can become wise in Christ. Let the wisdom of the world be as foolishness to you so you can embrace the true wisdom of God. This is not to put aside science, or history or evidence of facts but to put aside the philosophies of men and search out the Wisdom of God. Even the greatest among us, the most profound can be made foolish by the grace and wisdom of a simple child, as I found out many times.

I can not boast of degrees, of learning from scholars or acclaim to be wise for I am lowly. I can only testify as to what God has shared with my heart. And in my heart I have learned that there is wisdom in each of us, for each of us belong to God by the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ.

Prayer for Today: Let me be a fool for You, a fool for the glory of Christ. Teach me to grasp the unknown by Your Wisdom and graciousness, dear Lord. Bless me with a heart of spiritual “foolishness” for your sake. Amen
