“Like a sapling he grew up in front of us. like a root in arid ground.
Without beauty, without majesty (we saw him), no looks to attract our eyes;
a thing despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and familiar with suffering,
a man to make people screen their faces; he was despised and we took no account of him.
And yet ours were the sufferings he bore, ours the sorrows he carried.
But we, we thought of him as someone punished. struck by God, and brought low.
Yet he was pierced though for our faults, crushed for our sins.
On him lies the punishment that brings us peace, and through his wounds we are healed.”
He laid in the tomb, He walked into the Pit of Hell and He rescued us from death and all the saints before Him. And yet they did not know Him. Do we really know Jesus? Are we not seeing Him for the greatness He has done? Let us learn to hear and to see what others did not. Let us see God in Christ Jesus. Let us see Christ in each other.
Prayer for today: Grant us eternal Peace, and Mercy for what our sins have done. Amen
2 For he grew up before him like a young plant,
and like a root out of dry ground;
he had no form or majesty that we should look at him,
and no beauty that we should desire him.
3 He was despised and rejected  by men;
a man of sorrows,  and acquainted with  grief;
and as one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4 Surely he has borne our griefs
and carried our sorrows;
yet we esteemed him stricken,
smitten by God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions;
he was crushed for our iniquities;
upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace,
and with his stripes we are healed. (ESV)
